British GP: Race Report
The team leaves Silverstone with its best result of the season so far for Joel Kelso, who secured sixth, while Eddie O’Shea claimed his sixth top-ten finish of the season in eighth
The Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Great Britain was a particularly significant weekend for the team, marking its sole home Grand Prix of the season. It also saw the unveiling of a special retro-inspired livery for Eddie O’Shea’s bike, inspired by the golden era of British motorcycling, as well as the confirmation that O’Shea will remain with the team for the 2027 season.
The Moto3 race, which at Silverstone traditionally takes place at midday following the MotoGP race, saw both riders make strong progress through the field.
Starting from tenth on the grid, fourth row, Joel Kelso endured a difficult opening phase and found himself down in 17th position in the early stages. O’Shea, meanwhile, made a stronger start from 15th on the grid, fifth row, holding his position to run 12th at the back of the leading group. The group was split following crashes for Cruces and Danish, preventing the #8 from closing the gap to the riders ahead. O’Shea nevertheless remained in the fight, running inside the top ten as he continued to battle with the second group. Kelso took longer to bridge the gap to his team-mate’s group, but had joined the fight by the second half of the race.
Kelso ultimately crossed the finish line in sixth position, securing his best result of the season so far. O’Shea, who had been running sixth on the final lap, came home in eighth to complete a double top-ten finish for the team at its home Grand Prix.
The result sees the team leave Silverstone with both riders inside the top ten and 100 points in the Teams’ Championship standings, level on points with Honda Team Asia and just three points behind Leopard Racing, the highest-placed Honda team in the standings.
The team will now use the remainder of the summer break to recharge before heading to MotorLand Aragón, where it will look to continue the positive progression shown throughout the first half of the season.
