San Marino GP: Race report
The Moto3 team leaves Misano with a seventh-place finish for Joel Kelso and a 16th-place finish for Eddie O’Shea, following a weekend in which the Australian returned to the front row of the grid.
Starting from third on the grid, Joel Kelso secured a valuable seventh-place finish after battling in the second group at the front. His result also saw him finish as the leading Honda rider, adding a further nine points to his championship tally.
“Overall, Sunday wasn’t too bad. Of course, we wanted more, but we gave it 100% out there. We fought until the end and finished P7 in the group fighting for P4.
We’re just going to keep working and analysing how we can improve a little bit more. But overall, it’s been a really positive weekend. We’ll keep moving in this direction, find that little bit extra, and our time will come. ”
For Eddie O’Shea, who started from the fifth row, the race proved more challenging, with the British rider unable to show the strong pace he had demonstrated throughout the weekend. He took the chequered flag in 16th position, just one place outside the points.
“Not the result that me or the team deserved today. Time to completely reset and focus on Austria next weekend. ”
The team now leaves Italy and heads to Austria, taking 114 points into the overall standings and sitting just four points behind the highest-placed Honda team.
